Caboolture is considered to be the northernmost suburb of the greater Brisbane urban area. It is the last stop on the Brisbane commuter rail service but the north coast rail line continues through Caboolture up to the Sunshine Coast. Popular annual events are a country music festival and a ute muster. Caboolture is known as the childhood home of international music star Keith Urban. Caboolture is popular for people who want to live in a country style area but also be close to both the city and the beach. In recent years some of the rural land has been subdivided into “acreage” housing estates and it is also an area known for affordable land.

Landsborough is a small town in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast. It is situated just north of the Glasshouse Mountains. It is easy to get to by car or train as it is on the main train line north from Brisbane. There is a train/bus interchange for travellers wishing to get to the coast. Landsborough was named after British born explorer William Landsborough who was the first European to cross Australia from North to South. The history of the area can be traced at the Landsborough Museum. Other activities in the area include horseriding, trail bike riding, bird watching and farm stays just to name a few. Just north of Landsborough on the Bruce Highway is the Ettamogah Pub which is said to be the most photographed pub in the world. It was made famous in cartoons in 1959, but this pub was built here in 1989. Known for its quirky caricature shape it has become a very popular attraction where you can relax with beer and a delicious Aussie meal.

Nearby is Beerwah which is famous for Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo. Beerwah is found on Steve Irwin Way, named after the late Crocodile Hunter himself. It is a very popular tourist attraction for both local and international tourists.

South of Caloundra, North of Caboolture and less than an hour’s drive north of Brisbane is Bribie Island. It is the only Island in South East Queensland to be connected to the mainland by a bridge. Bribie Island is a large sand island in the north of Moreton Bay and is separated from the mainland by Pumicestone Passage. It is very popular for daytrippers who can have a great day out without battling the crowds of the main coastal hubs. The attractions of the area are surf beaches, fishing spots, locally caught fish and chips for lunch at one of the picnic spots, cafes, shopping, walking tracks and abundant wildlife. Bribie Island is protected by Environmental, National and Marine parks so that 86% will remain unchanged for future generations to enjoy. On the way to Bribie Island you will travel through Sandstone Point which is on the mainland side of the Bribie Island Bridge.
