Tips for Vinyl Floor Cleaning

Tips for Vinyl Floor Cleaning

Our vinyl floor cleaning services in Brisbane, Gold Coast, and the Sunshine Coast are all very popular amongst our customers. One of the most common reasons for our call outs is due to the vinyl becoming worn down. Below are some tips to keep your vinyl floors at their prime.

Vinyl Floor Sealing

At AllAces Cleaning & Restoration we recommend that our customers get their vinyl floors sealed. Sealing your vinyl works as a form of protection, if your vinyl is protected, you are wearing down the sealer and not the vinyl. Sealing also protects your vinyl from chemicals, dirt, and scratches.

However, vinyl sealing does not last forever, you mustmaintain the sealer every 6-12 months. Your vinyl might only need to be cleaned and not resealed, so it is good to have an inspection on your vinyl from a professional cleaner.

It is important to have your sealer maintained as chemicals and dirt can be vinyls biggest enemy. If your sealer is worn down, dirt and chemicals can get into the grain of your vinyl and if they do get into the grain then your vinyl may need to be completely stripped and resealed or possibly replaced.

Door Mat

Another great tip to keep your vinyl floor looking great is to use a door mat. Door mats can get the dirt and chemicals off of your shoes so that they do not go into the vinyl.

Mopping

When mopping your vinyl do not drench your mop, always squeeze it out so that it is lightly wet. This is so that water does not get into the cracks, seams, and edges. If water reaches the cracks, seams, and edges, it can damage the hold of the vinyl and it may result in your vinyl needing to be replaced.

Cleaning your vinyl floors

When cleaning your vinyl floors, it is important that you are using the right products. If you use the wrong chemicals, it can damage your floor. Always use products like the neutral cleaner from AllAces Cleaning & Restoration. This product is designed for vinyl floors.

Additionally, when cleaning your vinyl floors, do not use soap. While soap does clean the floors, it also leaves residue on the vinyl which attracts dirt. When mopping your floors only use recommended products or warm water.

Other helpful tips

  • Sweep your floors frequently to remove any excess dirt off the vinyl that may be left behind from your shoes.
  • Do not use heavy machines that use pressure to clean your vinyl.
  • Always wipe up spills straight away.
  • When having large furniture like TV cabinets and fridges on your vinyl, use furniture protectors under the legs of the furniture. This can prevent marks being left on the vinyl.

At AllAces Cleaning & Restoration we have a great system for vinyl floor cleaning. This system is designed so that your vinyl will never have to be stripped again and will only require top ups when needed.
