Black Water from Storm Damage

During storm seasons, our technicians work tirelessly to resolve, restore, and remediate the worst of situations across Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Sydney. As flash flooding often occurs in these seasons, the water damage to most houses is horrible. Unfortunately, in some areas, the damage can be exacerbated by sewer systems back flowing into houses.

This was the case with one of the many houses we had to restore. In this situation, the entire house had been flooded with up to 10cm of sewer water, which is classified as black water. With black water, it is important that we remove and dispose of all furnishings, including carpet, bedding, couches, and damaged electrical goods, including various white goods and fitness equipment.

Our Process

We sent our technicians out to the house where they removed majority of the soft furnishings for destruction, and proceeded to remediate the immediate threat to the occupants. The occupants had to remove themselves from the premises to prevent personal injury and excessive health risks associated with the high pathogen and bacterial levels of black water damage.

The technicians then administered a thorough anti-microbial and anti-bacterial treatment through the whole house and installed an extensive amount of drying and air purifying equipment to remediate the water damage and remove air-borne contaminants as quickly and effectively as possible.

After the moisture levels were brought down to an acceptable dry standard, our technicians removed the drying equipment and assessed the remaining contents for damage. Damage that was not present on the day of the event and has since transmogrified from seemingly unaffected contents into damaged contents needs to be removed and destroyed.

We then had a second team of AllAces technicians perform a complete removal of all effected and non-effected contents to an external storage facility. This allowed for the building crew to remove the wall sheeting and allowed the house to be restored to its pre-damage condition.
