Cars and Cigarette Odour Removal
If you’re a smoker and smoke in your car, you probably don’t notice the smell as much as those around you who are non-smokers. Your vehicle can significantly absorb the cigarette smell and a cigarette odour removal is a great solution.
The Dangers of Cigarette Odours
Cigarette odours, which are a result of tobacco smoke, signify the presence of numerous toxic and harmful compounds. While the odour itself might be unpleasant or a nuisance, it’s the source of the odour that poses real dangers. Here are the primary risks associated with cigarette odours:
- Third-hand Smoke: The term refers to the residue of nicotine and other chemicals left on surfaces by tobacco smoke. This residue can react with common indoor pollutants to produce harmful substances. Children, pets, and anyone touching these surfaces or inhaling the off-gassing from these surfaces can be exposed to these toxins.
- Toxins: Cigarette smoke contains over 7,000 chemicals, and hundreds of these are toxic. Known carcinogens such as benzene, formaldehyde, and polonium-210 are present in cigarette smoke. Residual traces of these chemicals can remain on surfaces and in dust long after the smoke has cleared.
- Respiratory Problems: Exposure to remnants of cigarette smoke, including its odour, can exacerbate respiratory conditions such as asthma, particularly in children. It can also cause respiratory irritation in individuals without pre-existing conditions.
- Allergens: Cigarette smoke residues can act as allergens, triggering allergic reactions or exacerbating existing allergies in some individuals.
- Increased Risk of Chronic Diseases: Long-term exposure to tobacco smoke, even if it’s passive, increases the risk of developing chronic conditions such as heart disease and lung cancer.
- Impacts on Children: Children are particularly vulnerable to the toxins found in cigarette residue. Exposure can lead to a variety of health problems, from respiratory issues to developmental problems. For infants, there’s the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
Our Service
A new customer discovered his need for cigarette odour removal when he purchased a used car from a smoker. He brought his vehicle into our factory in Murarrie QLD to have the interior carpets and leather cleaned and to hopefully have the strong cigarette smell removed by having our odour removal treatment completed.
Our Odour Removal Process
- First, we cleaned the carpets and full interior using a strong solvent to break down the smell.
- We then installed our hydroxyl machine overnight. This machine allows us to circulate the air in the vehicle by essentially decontaminating and deodorising the air simultaneously. It also allows the carpets and interior to dry thoroughly.
The cigarette smell was very intense when it arrived, and some were sceptical that it could be completely eradicated. However, after we had cleaned it, there was no longer any trace of cigarette smell.
When our client arrived at the factory for inspection, he was very impressed and thankful that we could return his vehicle to him smoke-free.
The hydroxyl machine can be used to remove all types of odours. Our technicians have also used this machine to remove other bad odours caused by biohazard waste, trauma cleanup, mould, sewage, and much many others.
