The carpets in our homes can cover a large amount of surface area. Consequently they often cop a lot of wear and tear from our busy day-to-day lives. Our carpets can get damaged from a number of sources including food and drink spills, sunlight, pets, coffee, blood, vomit, lipstick, ink, rust, grass, dirt, oil, paint, poo, and much more!
All Aces Services were recently called to a property located in Bulimba on the south side of Brisbane. The clients had a small area of staining on their carpet from an unknown source. One of our qualified technicians treated the area using techniques and knowledge acquired through the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC). You can see the before and after results in the photo below.
There are a lot of web pages out there sharing advice about how consumers can remove carpet stain themselves. Some of the advice we see makes us cringe! Using any detergents on your carpet is not a good idea as they tend to leave residue on the carpet. This will actually attract more dirt in the long run.
Another tip we see constantly is using vinegar on the affected area of carpet. Vinegar doesn’t actually have any cleaning properties at all. It is not advisable to use vinegar on stains as there is actually a possibility that the vinegar will react with the stain and cause further damage.
Another popular suggestion is Bi-carb soda. Bi-carb soda is actually a bleaching agent and can actually contribute to staining of your carpet as well.
For best results that won’t cost you more money in the long run, it is best to contact a carpet cleaner that has IICRC qualifications with a solid reputation.
